Metaphors

larry asked me to describe myself
using a simple metaphor
but I took it one step further
and turned it into a 4k mystery du jour...

I have watched the others coming
With their age old mythical ways
We grow comfort from one another
By ignoring these endless days
History demands that I should crumble..
Tremble, shake...and break
And I did, I do, I will again
For I have lived a thousands lives already
Each new life some hundred odd years long
This life I will reach higher than a phoenix
Circling the Arizona sun
In Texas, I'll impale myself against the force
of my destiny's self destruction
And nature's oh so naturally mapped out course
For I have lived so many lives already..
With each new face the same
Yet I grow weary of the fruitless search
In finding a different name
I am tired, I am tired
Hear my fiery pleas
Drown my ashes in the waters
Far beneath the oceans and the seas
So I can live just one life
One life...just for me

What am I?
If you look closely
To the writing
You'll find the answer
Easily
